This is Alex bloging… - rhythems????

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

Larry…. you did it again, what are you doing to us? you tried to confuss us again. :S

Any way, yesterday was hard, why you ask? Of cause it was hot and it was hard for us to constrict the exerise. Some of the actors did not understand the rhythem. It took a while to get the idea of the pratice. Then we started the big fish-small fish again, the actors began to handle the concept of the game and they have improve it but still needs to improve.

After the break, we continue on the brain concept, then we had an idea about body and mind. So one actor been as a mind and other the body… a few of them are good…. but still didn’t like that idea. I was hoping to put in the 10 anniversity theme play… however, it could corparated as somethin sybalising to it. And mind you, my ideas went wild and i have told Larry with ideas and he thought they are not bad ideas.

Any way, i have to go and trying to cool from the crazy hot weather.

Ciao

This is Alex bloging… - big fish… small fish?!?

Friday, February 9th, 2007

Big fish… small fish?!? You are confussing us Larry!!! :/ :P On that last Wedenseday, we did the quick response game called “big fish, small fish”. This game goes like this; it starts off with big fish but we have to do with the opposite to small fish. Then continue with big fish. And we have to do the actions too. So If was to say big fish, i have to do the action with small fish.

Unfortunately… we did not do very well in the end. So Larry continue with the naming game as from last week but this week was food. Next week, we will do the animinals.

After the break, Larry asked us about life in the work area. I thought that we meant to do other issues, so discussed how it like to work in the workshop, or it isn’t enough money to earn a week and etc. Also what is like to live in the hostels in the dark side. In the end, Larry asked about the actaul disability in general and that if a normal person had an accident. Then, Larry give us some of educational story about the brian. What i have learnt was that the brian is actually fat?

After that, Larry asked us to do the scene of the brian from normal to damaged brian. I thought it went well then.

Now, I have to sign off now till next week.

Caio.

This is Alex bloging… - the first day of drama.

Well….. last night was interesting, why? well, Jo is not longer with us for a whole  But with chaos from one end to other. Some of the peolple had ideas for this year….. i said to myself, “o my goodness…. have they got ideas?“. It was unfortunate for them to lose her, but she will be droping by time to time.

Our director is Larry Boyd that is also the Artistic Director for the Company. Some of the group did not wish to read the script or let Larry read the line at the background at the show. Now, he will do as Jo do other the years, no scripts, no themes doings and no sharpirians plays for a whole. So he let the group tell what they would like to do for this year.

The group had ideas that they would like to make a celebration theme for our 10 anniversity. So my idea is to make a documentary film like or make interview how it started til last year. Also i asked the group which ones are their favorite scene or play. So the ideas went well and the ideas went one thing to 20 things at once. And poor Larry couldn’t keep up with the group with their ideas.

Whole we giving ideas, Larry stop for a moment and he told the group that they have been improve so well in the past and improved for over the years now. I have also told Larry about that too.

Before i end, we wish to welcome our new 2 members, their names are, Adrian and Aliesin. They are from other groups with same company.

This is it for the momenent, and stay tune for the audition for the World Congress of IDEA in Hong Kong in 3 weeks.

The After Party and guess what everyone! Fusion Theatre is going to Hong Kong

Friday, December 29th, 2006

On December 15th we all met back at the Dandenong Community Arts Centre for a after show get together. There was lots of food and laughter.

Larry and I made the announcement to the group that we had been successful in receiving significant financial assistance (in the form of return airfares) to get some members of Fusion Theatre to Hong Kong for the IDEA congress in July 2007. This announcment caused much excitement and many people immediately expressed their desire to be counted in on that! We talked about the requirements of participants in the Hong Kong experience as representatives of Fusion Theatre and explained that there will be a process of interview and audition before a panel of three.

After the excitement and questions died down a little, I asked if anyone wanted to contribute any final thoughts to the blog.

Here is what people said:

Jean-Marie: We’ve had a great year and the 10th anniversary year will be even better (2007) and we’ll do even more than we’ve done before. Some of us are even going to China which is exciting and wonderful. I really hope to go!

Mandy: I hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year and I hope we have a great year of drama. I hope I get to go to Hong Kong.

Andy: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I’m thinking about how good we all are and especially thank-you to my dad, Joe, for all the work. (Joe was our lighting tech.)

Andrew: Great year! Great show!  See you next year. As for Hong Kong! Thanks for a once in a lifetime opportunity. I’ll do my best and give it my best shot.

Vicki: I liked being pandora. I wish everyone a happy Christmas and New Year and I hope I get picked for Hong Kong.

Debbie: I liked the show. Merry Christmas.

Paul: The Deakin students are nice to work with. They are like a part of the drama group. And kate is fantastic.Everybody just did a fantastic job.

We also had some awards -presented to each person with some words about their development of skills over the year and their part in the performance. We looked at photos of the performances and rehearsals of Museum Mythica - everyone had some to take home.

So- it is over for 2006 but we all look forward to 2007 with a sense of excitement and anticipation.

Thats all from me for 2006.

Warm wishes to all,

Jo

We’ve done it!

Monday, December 11th, 2006

Well, the performances went off well. Congratulations to everyone! we got a lot of great feedback from our audiences.

As I watched I wondered at how early in the year we began with nothing but a vague idea and then out of our workshops, experimentation, exploration, discussions, improvisations and all the work we did this performance gradually emerged and was shaped and polished… well, sort of polished!

I’ll post up some photos soon.

It will be good to see everyone at the after party on Wednesday.

Last Rehearsal 4th December

Monday, December 4th, 2006

We had our last rehearsal and first run through in the theatre at Chandler last night. The new space took a bit of getting used to but we had a decent run with some adjustments to the different space. it is a lovely theatre space to work in. I met with Andy’s dad Joe before the rehearsal to go over the lighting for the show - he is very efficient and learned what we needed quickly!

Alex, Jean-Marie and Mandy came early to rehearse their scenes tonight.

We had another Deakin student - Karen, join us and we threw her in the deep end! She and Emma can assist backstage - they are getting things organised. Kate and Amara looked great in costume and Adric did admirably on sound.

There may be some nerves tonight! It is hot as well - 33 degrees so some sweating! Wish us well as the season finally begins!
