This is Alex bloging… - half stage… quater stage????

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

Hi again,

half back stage…. front left queter….. Larry can you keep mind up????? :P

On Wedenseday night was confussing for the group…. anda… for myself too, but i got it in a few minutes later. We did this technique with the stage that Larry asked us to use the space of the stage, so we went on the stage and asked us to do the half/quater technique; it was interesting that the professional actors also do that too. However, i have noticed that some of the actors wasn’t sure about that, so Larry had to direct them the way, while we did that, we got used to the idea.

After that, we did another techique that haven’t done yet; we did hugle walk techique. i thought this is interesting, so we did that but it was a little hard but we kind of managed to get into the gear. i thought it was interesting that it gave me idea for my own play….. mmmm…… you gave me great ideas for my play Larry. Thanx…. :D

So Jo…. is it hot there??? mmm…. i would be dreaming to be there. DAMN IT!!!!! lol…. you didn’t got caught from the croc….. DAMN IT JO!!!!! :P lol

Any ways, I have to goes…. see you next for more interesting and werid things happenings.

Ciao.

Jo blogs in Darwin

Yes, great news about Fusion Theatre becoming incorporated - it is the dawn of a new era.

I won’t be seeing the gang this week as I am in Darwin. Instead, Larry will be enjoying working with the group again. I’m just writing this to say hello to everyone and no, I haven’t been eaten by a crocodile - haven’t even seen one yet but I have seen where they have been! I have seen a lot of Darwin and, as part of the Darwin Festival, some theatre including the operetta or Orpheus in the Underworld which included many of the Greek mythological characters that we have become familiar with in our work. I’ve also seen some beautiful scenery and sunsets. Oh yeah - it is really hot here!!!
Hope you have a good time working with Larry - see you soon.

This is Alex bloging… - fanastic news for all of us!!!

Friday, August 18th, 2006

I’m sorry that I couldn’t be on the net, and again, I got sick this week and luckly that we have a week off. I will be back and bouncing away in next week.

However, I have great news for all of us; from this week, we have became a company; we were two serparate groups with Dramability and Dramatts, now we are one with 2 sub-groups. The company name is Fusion Theatre Company INC.

That was my dream to do that for years now, and now I am very happy that Larry did something for the company.

Now, we can able to apply grants in our own and do tours and make presentations and etc,  and still we will have support with other originations.

Well done Larry…. I thank you for my dream came true.

cheers for now with coughs-that-never-ends cold and with happy mood for all of us.

cough cough….. Alex lol

PS: Larry is our Managering Director for the company for this year, and his full name is Larry Boyd.

Something brewing…..

Ok… here is the news…. As Andrew opened his big, fat mouth and said “he is getting married!!!!!”. …. that jack-ass…. :P lol

Any ways, as Jo will be away for 3 weeks and Larry will help us with the rehearsals. Jo asked me that i could bloging away while she away… of cause i did….  hint hint. :D

Very soon, I will put up some of the photos that i took from the workshopping of Arachne and Minerva.

Before I go…. We have even better news…. we are having one week off…… HOORAY!!!!!!! We will be back in the forenight…

I think this is it for the moment, and ciao for now in the forenight.

Oh what a tangled web we weave!

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

It was a different sort of night tonight as we had Larry back to visit for a week. Larry will be directing the group while I’m away in Darwin. So this is Jo’s last post for a little while.

Our warm-up included some of the exercises that group members are very familiar with and are getting better at. We able to do the opposites version of ‘Walk, stop, jump, clap’ which is very tricky. ‘Eleven’ was well done – got to eleven twice without repeating numbers. Crazy orchestra was really well done with some inventive conductors.

We worked on the new story Arachne and Minerva. A few good ideas were raised for this one. We worked on the weaving contest and the transformation of Arachne into a spider.

We had cake in the break! Some comments were put forward for the blog.

Pauline: The group has been wonderful to work with and I’d like to thank people.

Andrew: I’m very glad that the drama has taken a different direction with the Greek mythology. I’m very glad that I’m able to contribute to it.

Paul: I drama you get to know other people and do lots of different things even behind the scenes with equipment. The Deakin students are a great help.

Mandy: Some of the things we’ve been doing in drama I’ve used in my work. It can help you. I got employee of the month.

Good as Gold

We went through a thorough warm-up  -movement, reflexes and concentration. Focus needed a bit of extra work tonight. Some of the actors felt they needed to have a bit of a sit down so we will need to work on building stamina. How will you get through a whole performance if you have to sit down after a couple of warm-ups? Some people understand the idea of suffering a bit for your art!

Amara brought her fellow perfoming friend Kate along (another Deakin student) and the company had a lot to tell and show kate. Andrew for example engaged her in some conversation about Greek mythology and Paul sang a song. Once again we were missing Jean-Maree - a cold I think was keeping her away. The ‘new’ story had to be put on hold once again. Still, this allowed us to work a little on some of the between stories business and Katrina had been waiting patiently for this. Now, we knew it was going to be funny but the caast who were watching were beside themselves - it made me wonder whether that was really tea they were drinking in the break!

It was Mandy’s birthday the next day and she was a bit annoyed with me for not bringing a cake! Sorry Mandy but you have to admit we sang an excellent version of Happy Birthday for you and that more than made up for it. Maybe because it was her birthday she came up with a great idea for the end of the performance. We improvised it and it was really cool because it involved the whole cast. It got the big nod from the group as something to work on further for the performance. As Alex has already blogged, we have a working title - needs a little more work but its good.
The Midas story got a little bit more work done on it so we could work on the transitions between scenes. Hopefully by the end of the next workshop we’ll have covered a lot of ground all ready for when I get back from Darwin (3 weeks away) with a written performance outline in hand. I expect that Larry will sharpen up the group’s  expressive skills while I’m away because I’ll be working the group hard ready for SHOWTIME at the end of November. Get ready for it folks and be good while I’m away - I’ll be checking into the blog and may even leave you a message!

This is Alex bloging… - the Midas touch; part two.

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

mmm… Last night was another funny and weird night. We also had a special guest from mer’s fellow student from the Uni. Her name was Kate. She was very keen and eger to help on hand. She was amazed that we can do very well with acting technques.

We did the King Mida’s scene. This was the most funniest night ever for me. After the break, With Katrina’s a few of 1001 ideas and we went to the action to it, and surely it worked too. What it happened was that i did a comical scene with the stataue scene and they all laughed out so hard they couldn’t stop it. Then i did the expressions, they couldn’t even hold on theirselves. And even i couldn’t stop laughing too.

After that scene, Mandy pop up for the first time and she had an idea for the begining and at the end of the play. The idea was that all of us could be stataues and do the dancing scene with the song of “we are family”. That worked very well and we might put that in the play.

This is Alex bloging… - we have a working title

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

In the break before the King Mida’s scene, We had a discussion regards to the play and i have said in the previous posts; that we have a working title for the play for this year. The working title is “Mythika”. Of cause i picked it in the early of this year that would the best title for the play, why? firstly it is a greek mythical play and it is unknown to the outsiders of the drama.

The group liked the working title and they thought it is a greek theme play, so we stick that title for the time been til better title (that wouldn’t it will have a better then that one. wink :D )

Maybe you could comment it for us what is your thought on the title.
