This is Alex bloging… - advancements of ideas with umbellara.

Thursday, June 15th, 2006

mmmmm….. let me see, yesterday wasn’t a good day for all of us. Again, I wasn’t feeling good again but this time, we had problem to another problem and delays and hadn’t stop till the end of day.

Any way ex the problems and the delays, Jo went another blog and she had nothiced that they have a photo with umbellera bunch up. So we had to think what would happen the scene… we had no idea, so we take that idea from it and we did the idea or theme of rain. we did the positive and negitive sides of the rain and the ideas went well. I was a little surprised that chyral did very well with the umbellera…. well done chyral. :)

Any way, I have to go and we will also be away for 2 week holiday, and we will be back by then.

Ciao for now. And here are of the photos that I have taken.

This is chyral with one of the scenes. This is Debbie behind the screen. This is Jean-Marie with one of the scenes. This is Pauline in one of the scenes.

A picture paints a thousand words

We tried out Pauline’s human puppet idea with strings and used music as inspiration for movement. What was interesting was the wide range of movements that the exercise encouraged. We also began to think of stories that grew out of the exercise.

The second half of the workshop involved the shadow screen. some really interesting movements and shapes were created in silhouette. Again there were lots of ideas for performance generated. We talked about the theme again and I sked everyone to bring an umbrella for next week.

Here are some pics of the puppet ex.

mmmm…. yes Jo, we have comments now and still coming……

And the group and myself, we would like to thank you for kind words.

As yesterday was even interesting, why? Well, as we discussed last week about the strings, last night we did the strings for puppetary… well done Pauline for your great idea!!! ;)

Last night we did the usaul routine and then we did the puppetary. Katrina asked me if would be with her so i did and as you know Katrina…. (with 1001 ideas…) she was rolling with ideas with the strings… geez…. haha. Any way, we did a comical style of an idea it went well with it. It was a swimming scene it was very good.

Later that night, we did the shadow scene and I enjoyed that alot and I was hoping to put it on the stage. I had alot ideas for that. it reminded me the old 30s style movies, i was imagine myself sololate singer with a tall hat and a stick with it. That was a wow effect for me.

I think this is it for the moment, and again, i would like to thank you for your comments and please don’t hassitate to pass a comment.

O… don’t forget to go on to my blog… please… :D

Hello world!

Tuesday, June 6th, 2006

Hey  - great to see a whole load of comments on our blog today! Someone is listening! Hello world!

Last week a couple of people asked me to say that more people are welcome to join the group. In fact we had one person join the group the week before and that is Andy. Andy has been a member and has returned to the group. Great to have you back Andy.

Alex has already blogged last week’s workshop. The sticks he refered to are the bamboo (garden stakes) that we use for a focus exercise. We did lots of other things but this one sticks in my mind (Andrew would ahve made that pun). Stick Exercise: Firstly 2 people balance the stick between them with only the pressure of 1 finger each. We add another stick. Add a bit of music and movement and it all looks and sounds pretty special - so we had a discussion about the artistic possibilities for performance. As Alex said - loads of ideas from just about everyone.

Pauline reminded us of the puppet idea so we are going to try that out.

I’ve finally got hold of something special for the group for this week. It is something I’ve been looking for for a while. Can’t wait to try it out.

Really great news was that the Deakin students are back after practicum and assignments!! We love having them.
